Zack Arias Photography

Zack Arias is very strong in street photography. His work ranges from people to places and then to architecture. The photographs he produces always have a strong concept and a very posed idea for a framed photograph eventhough his work is candid at most.

His work started becoming popular in the early 2000's as he started taking photographs of people in their home cities and showing the true essences of different countries across the worl using the people as the examples.

This video produced by Arias shows us the many ways to camouflage into our surroundings to take a good set of photographs using the skill set candid photography.
The ideas behind is work is to create a huge composed set that naturally comes up in areas he visits and then he
adds a tiny bit of editing to get the photograph to stay extremely sharp.
His work is really detailed and the compositions compliment him and his work and using the photography to show many grey areas of humanity and what we dont see from other countries.
This particular photograph is very strong in many areas.

Composition:
The composition of the people in the photograph is scattered and very out of proportion which is the only aspect of the photograph I dont like.
The lines that show leading lines seem to be coming from the shops behind the people which leads our eye t the front part of the photograph with the angry guy.
Lighting:
The lighting is very dim but very diffused as it may be night there and the street lights have a diffuser sheild on the top so it spreads the light evenly.
Also the lights from the shop are very strong and give an ambience of blue light and some orange light.
Concept behind this:
The ideas behind this seem to be vague but show the confrontation of an angry guy and Zack Arias when the photograph was taken.
Take away skills:
The key aspect I will use is the people and their expressions.
Composition:
The composition of the work is very open and shows a centred lady in a costume showing the true essence of Japanese culture.
The boy behind her is set in his palce to make her seem very tall and much bigger than she actually is.
Lighting:
The lighting is not natural as we can see it is dark out and the street lights are on.
The light is very well diffused over all the individuals faces.
Concept behind this:
The concept is to show Japanese culture in a highly American place.
Take away skills:
I will take away the compositioning as it is very good to get a concept across.
