Mobile Street Photography Two

Planning
For this photoshoot we have to choose two locations and take a series of photographs and put a certain theme to them. The photographs have to be taken by our phones again to see a complete variation from DSLR cameras and our every day mobile devices.
For this particular shoot I want focus on the theme of distraction on public transport/distraction between various commuters so I can take the photgraphs and explain what you dont usually care about on public transport then blow this up so that people can see what peoples mannerisms are like using the power of photography.
For my photoshoot location one I want to go to a very well known out of Central London station and capture its essence so I chose a local station to me, Leytonstone, and here I want to catch the builders and local business people in action showing the mannerisms of using modern technology as a distraction.
For my second location I want to base my photography on trains so I am directly hitting commuters who are travelling to and from certain locations.
I have decided to go to another more well known out of London station called Gants Hill as this area is writhe with activity wether it be business based or sports/activities and even people in education so here I wanted to show the same theme as my other location but this time tackle the commuters head on and get really close detailed images to show the distractions of the people.
The mobile phone will be in portrait mode so I can easily chose who I will take my photographs of and even use my blending into the surroundings technique of taking a selfie but really I am using the back camera to get close to the model or subject.
I will think carefully about leading lines as the trains have a variety of leading lines such as the poles and lights over head.
Productions and final results
Here we can see how the impact of the location and being on the train has changed the image to more softer lighting and alot of leading lines. The image to the left was created using the surroundings such as the poles and the model being centered directly in the frame.
This image does on the other hand seem very grain due to the orange hinted light hitting my phone camera at the time this was taken.
It does show my theme of distraction as the man behind the main subject is distracted by his phone and she is distracted by her mother who is to her right in the image.
This truely shows the communters in London.
The photographs to the right are slightly distroted in colour and saturation but clearly show my thoughts in the theme of commuting and being easily distracted by technology or newspapers.
I really liked the proportions of this image as it shows me being lower down from the model and creating the effect of him being extremely tall. I did in fact mis-take this photograph and realised its good components as a street photograph when I went through my camera roll.
The lighting is very soft creating slight shadows giving it more 3 dimensional feel and creating more depth to the subject. I would have liked the subject to have been faced forward as then I could have gotten the facial expression in which could give the image more of a context for the viewer to decide.
The leading lines are very strong here directly coming from behind the subjects head and going straight tot his nose leading us to his eyes looking down at the phone which then directly links to my theme of distraction and as we can see he is distracted by his phone.
The partial facial expression does give off a bad feel and so does the photographs lighting but if he was more faced on we could have gotten a whole overview of him and what he thinks to the subject matter being deliver on his mobile device.
The photograph is very clear in its intentions and ideas so I feel this is very successful.
These photographs came out extremely grainy and disoriented in subject. I felt these were quite odd out of my series as the lighting on them was dark and very obscured to the subject.
I feel it would be better if I had taken them whilst the train was above ground so I can get more light into the image.
I really liked this photographs colouring and the deep contrast between the man and the platform.
The colouring was really nice with him and the suit he is wearing compared to the ninentdo device which is vibrant pink.
The framing was perfect as he is directly in the middle and the distraction is seemingly put directly in the middle of the frame and to the left is the train arriving so you can see the train station and where the location is in the station.
I do feel my editing needs to be done on the back exposure as it is very over exposed above the train and I feel if the train was more darker it would clearly show my intentions of the photograph and the timing of th photograph being spot on.
I also feel the man should at least be side faced therefore the face can be seen and I can show the concentration on his face then it gives the image a more in depth context which the individual viewers can determine and relate to.
This photograph was planned ahead when I saw the two ladies matching in colour and outfits so I felt that this would be a very good detailed contextual image.
The ways the two ladies are positioned are also very deep in my theme as the lady in the back was talking to someone and creating a deep conversation and the lady closer to the camera was seriously concentrated on the newspaper.
The lighting is very soft over the faces and the colours that directly show the intentions I made for this image.
The leading lines for me seem to come from the pipe behind the back lady and the lines on the door behind the front lady.
The image also has a foreground and a bakground as both ladies show this and the depth of the image in physical shape and in the frame.
The photograph was a more test of lines and timing as we can see the younger boy is directly creating a line from the finger and the finger leads us to the lady and her necklace which then leads us to the lady's face.
The photograph shows purely the moment when a joke is happening between a mother and her son which then puts a deep context and thought behind the image.
Overall the series from the shoot was highly successful as we can see how the accidents I created were then intentional and gave a great theme to work from.
The lighting overall was great with soft lighting creating an atmosphere and feeling when the image is viewed so does the strong contrast.
I really liked the easy feeling to this shoot as it was only done using a phone which then creates a less harsh and worrying environment of confrontation.
