Hidden City Shoot Two

Artists Research
Planning
Canary Wharf
Southbank
For our next shoot we were given the task of taking photographs of architecture that interests me and also the way a building is portrayed normally and manipulate that and show it in a new light.
For this particular project I want to focus on big named areas such as Southbank and Canary Wharf.
These locations are specifically chosen as they have a wide range of buildings and structural shapes which I want to show in more of different way being changing the angles of the photograph and even the camera functions.
The aim for myself is to get good quality photographs of buildings from these locations and to have a strong contrast between modern architecture and older buildings. This work is directly inspired by the landscapes and local area photographs from Shirley Baker's work as she was finding positivity in a negative war environment which is the contrast she made, like how I am contrasting old from new.
Productions and final results
The photograph to the left was inspired by the older parts of london as I wanted to capture the older buildings in a new light. As we can see here the photograph has a block colour in the background so this allows the uilding to stand out from the photograph. The other two photographs below were also from the same nature but I was more inspired by the photographer Noemie Goudal as her work is abstract and very illusion based so I did this with the street photograph below as it is like a maze. These photographs were overall succesful and sharp which is what I needed in my photographs.
The photograph on the left is very succesful and clear and crisp.

The photographs on the right are very sharp and meaningful.

Here I went to Westminster and went to the back streets of The Hunterian Surgical Museum. Here the streets were old and very abstract so I wanted to remake the area and buildings more modern. So what I did was focus on unusual type of buildings and structures as I like things that are rarely seen but are in plain site.

I took photos here instead of my desired location, which was Waltham Cross. The issue that prevented me from going to Waltham Cross was the fact that most trains were down from going from my area to Waltham Cross.

The backstreets are very old fashioned but the sustainability of the buildings and how they look different from the glass buildings like the Shard and Gurking. The contrasts of old from new worked very well as it showed a deep look into old historic buildings and showed the modern sides.
