For my final shoot I decided I would go back to Westminster/ Southbank, as the area is very complex and run down which is something I want to capture in my photographs. My main aim to achieve here is to bring old buildings into a new light and show modern society the old buildings beauty.
The area surrounding the strand is old and run down. The architecture of the area is very old fashioned and so is the statues in the fields. These are ideas for images and things to focus on.
With this work I decided to name this as a part of my personal projects and name it 'New London'.
This title resembles the exploration of London as a new quality of taking the old to new.

Technical Skills Needed:
  • Landscape/Portrait modes for the buildings.
  • Stealth to blend in with surroundings so I can get no attention drawn to me.
  • Colour matching as the buildings are quite dark and dull usually so maybe bring them to a block colour.
  • Contrasts of old to new and light to dark to get the tones and shades in an image.

My main aim to accomplish in my final shoot is to get the buildings to stand out and to make the buildings attractive in size and colour.
My underlining objective is to make sure the buildings get a reflection off them to capture the area they are within.
Productions and final results
The photograph on the left shows a strong concept idea of depth and 'Un natural things in natural places'. the idea of this photograph was to show the illusion of the split of paths in a under carriage along with the inspirational quote in the middle. The text in the middle was also the concept as it shows the green vines dropping down as the quote talks about the green garden. The concept I spoke about is the tunnel being under the natural garden. The photographs below showed a strong sense of leading lines and also contrasts as the building with two different sides show two different colours and building materials where as the windowed building is strong in lines.
The photograph on the left is strong and sharp.

The right photographs are contrasting in concepts.
With this shoot I decided to take both old and new buildings to show versatility in architecture of the modern day which is of course slightly off topic with my ideal theme so I did end up changing my idea theme to something that stated more like 'Things in places they should not be'.
This lead the work to a photograph of a lion on a parking sign which then lead to modern buildings and so on. The shoot was difficult with high security so I took photographs from a distance then left.
The photographs were quite fogged down and cloudy but this was due to the time of day I went and also the season as it was cold and started to rain. This did not affect much of my imagery work but I did have a shorter time out shooting than I would of liked. The reasoning behind the modern architecture was because the old architecture has more than likely been knocked down to make way for new and better buildings so when I arrived I had noticed a huge amount of renevations and new buildings being built which made me move further down the Thames which was better as I had no cranes in my work. Overall the shoot went vey well and I would go back for more photographs of that similar nature.
